Message from the Director
greeting

Thank you for visiting our hospital’s website.

My name is Hiroyuki Kato, and I will be opening a pediatric clinic, “Ando Children’s Clinic,” in Ando, Aoi Ward, Shizuoka City, in December 2026.

Since joining Shizuoka Children’s Hospital in 2007, I have received much support from the people of Shizuoka. First and foremost, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported me so far.
In the emergency and intensive care units of the children’s hospital, I have faced the heartfelt concerns of many children and their families. Since leaving the children’s hospital, I have worked with Doctors Without Borders and have also provided medical care at local pediatric clinics and the pediatric departments of general hospitals. I hope to utilize my experience to protect the health of children in the community and to create a place where families can feel safe and secure. I will do my utmost. Thank you for your continued support.

Our Clinic’s 10 Missions
mission

Mission 01 We aim to be the primary care physician for children in the community.

Based on my background in pediatric emergency care, I provide comprehensive care for a wide range of conditions, from sudden illnesses such as fever, cough, and vomiting, to chronic conditions like asthma and hay fever, as well as vaccinations and infant health checkups.

Furthermore, for unexpected accidents (such as falls, slips, or accidental ingestion) that often leave people unsure which department to consult, please feel free to contact us first. After a thorough examination, if we determine that more advanced tests or specialized treatment are necessary, we will promptly refer you to the appropriate medical institution or specialist.

*If the person is unconscious, has a clearly pallor, or is in a critical condition requiring immediate attention, do not hesitate to call 119 and request emergency transport.

Mission 02 We will provide medical care to fathers and mothers, along with the children.

When your child visits us, please feel free to consult with me about your own health as well. I can examine parents at the same time to help lighten your family’s burden.

If you are an adult with a chronic illness (such as lifestyle-related diseases) and are receiving treatment at a specialized medical institution, we will work in cooperation with your primary physician and assist with regular prescriptions and health management at our clinic to the extent possible.
Please feel free to consult with us as your “family doctor.”
However, please understand that we may not be able to meet your request in situations requiring specialized knowledge, such as with chronic illnesses with unstable conditions.

Mission 03 Thorough infection control measures to eliminate cases of “getting infected with another disease after visiting a doctor.”

Many children who visit our pediatrics department have infectious diseases (illnesses that spread from person to person).
To minimize the risk of secondary infection during visits, our clinic utilizes online questionnaires and categorizes patients into the following four groups, completely separating waiting rooms and examination rooms.
Based on the information you provide in the online questionnaire before your visit, our staff will guide you to the most appropriate route.

  • Non-infectious area (right side of reception):
For checkups, vaccinations, and treatment of allergic diseases (hay fever, hives, etc.) for children who do not have infectious diseases.
  • Infection Area (left side of reception):
Children with symptoms such as a cold or gastroenteritis but without a fever.
  • Fever Area (Enter through the dedicated entrance before the clinic):
Children with a fever of 38.0°C or higher before their visit.
  • Isolation area (in a private car or a private room at the clinic):
For children suspected of having COVID-19, measles, chickenpox, mumps, rubella, etc.

Mission 04 We aim for zero waiting time.

Our clinic is fully committed to minimizing wait times, because we respect your family’s precious time.

We have introduced the latest systems such as online reservations, web-based medical questionnaires, cashless payments, and electronic prescriptions, allowing us to ensure a smooth process from check-in to payment.

To implement this system, the cooperation of all family members is essential, including answering online questionnaires before the visit, and pre-registering information such as your My Number Card, infant medical care recipient certificate, and credit card details.

We aim to create a clinic where you don’t have to wait, together with all of you. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Mission 05 We aim to reduce the burden on families through remote medical consultations.

For follow-up visits (second and subsequent consultations for the same illness) where symptoms are stable, we will actively utilize remote consultations and collaborate with each family member’s regular pharmacy to reduce the physical and time burden on families regarding visits and medication pick-ups.

Mission 06 We will actively engage in disaster relief and humanitarian aid activities.

Leveraging the experience gained in emergency situations and domestic and international support operations, we will continue to be a clinic that can contribute to society even in times of crisis.

  • To prepare for local disasters,
we have introduced a backup power generator and a disaster-ready electronic medical record system. Even in the event of a disaster in Shizuoka City, we will continue to provide medical care as much as possible to protect the safety of children in the community.
  • Responding to Large-Scale Disasters in Japan:
When a large-scale disaster occurs in Japan, we will actively support medical assistance activities on the ground and participate in direct relief efforts.
  • Support for colleagues involved in humanitarian aid:
We will proactively create a welcoming environment so that staff engaged in aid activities overseas can have employment options when they temporarily return to Japan.
  • Support for Humanitarian aid activity and our Humanitarian efforts
By donating to humanitarian organizations and sharing their stories, we will keep supporting those in need. Furthermore, we will always look for what each of us can do to help from Japan, or from anywhere in the world, ensuring our humanitarian efforts never stop.”

Mission 07 We aim to become a global clinic.

We actively provide medical care in foreign languages to meet the needs of patients and their families of various nationalities.
We also actively recruit foreign personnel to contribute to international exchange and understanding.

Mission 08  We will strive to protect the natural environment for the future of our children.

To pass on a better environment to the next generation, we value harmony with nature in our clinic operations.
We will actively introduce electronic prescriptions, digital receipts and statements to conserve paper resources through a paperless system.
We plant a variety of plants on the clinic grounds and in the parking lot, striving to create a lush green space where visiting children and families can feel at ease. We aim to be a clinic that is a familiar part of the Ando townscape, as an integral part of the local landscape.

Mission 09  We will create a comfortable working environment and value each and every staff member.

We believe that high-quality medical care stems from an environment where staff are healthy in both mind and body and can work with a smile.
We strive to create a workplace that supports staff and their families, and aim to be a clinic where every member of the team can provide medical care with pride.

Mission 10 supports the professional development and skill enhancement of staff.

In addition to providing leave for participation in training sessions and obtaining qualifications, we actively offer financial support for course fees and other related expenses.
